From inpatient hospice care to delivering care at home, Marie Curie provides an array of support for those coming towards the end of their life. It also offers critical bereavement services for families in the aftermath of the loss of a loved one.
Solihull is fortune to have a Marie Curie Hospice, which provides vital care and support to residents and their families in Solihull and parts of Birmingham.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
It was a great pleasure to meet with the team at the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull on Wednesday 18th September 2024. I am incredibly grateful for the hugely important role everyone at Marie Curie does in supporting terminally ill patients and their families.
The facilities were highly impressive, from its treatment rooms, a “man shed”, games room, and stunning gardens. It's clear that Marie Curie provides compassionate and loving end-of-life care.
Marie Curie and its fundraisers do a tremendous job at funding two thirds of its income. There are important discussions to be had in Parliament about how the Government can deliver fairer funding for hospices, who ultimately are delivering a key service for the NHS.”
Toby North, Marie Curie’s Head of Public Affairs, said:
We were pleased to welcome Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP to Marie Curie’s West Midlands Hospice this week to discuss the vital expert care we give to anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, whether at home, in our hospices or over the phone.
At a time when our research tells us that that too many people are dying without the end of life care and support they need, we look forward to working with Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP – in our community and in Westminster - to ensure that everyone gets the best possible care, free from avoidable pain, and with the dignity and respect they deserve, regardless of who they are or where they live.
