In the Solihull West and Shirley constituency, general practices are either part of Solihull Healthcare Partnership (SHP) or General Practice Solihull (GPS). These groups are managed by separate teams and provide healthcare services to different communities within the constituency.
In his plan to improve healthcare services for the whole constituency, Neil will be regularly meeting with both SHP and GPS to ensure there is a consistently good service for constituents. Irrespective of where you live in Solihull West and Shirley, the objective is for all residents to receive good access to healthcare.
On Friday 13th September, Neil was invited, along with neighbouring Member of Parliament for Meriden and Solihull East, Saqib Bhatti MP, to meet with the leadership team at GPS at the Village Surgery in Dickens Heath.
During the visit, Neil was given the opportunity to visit the Triage Centre and to meet with some of the clinicians. Following the tour of the surgery, Neil received a presentation on the performance of GPS and their plans moving forward.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
This was a highly informative meeting. GPS were able to run through recent performance statistics and patient feedback. I was impressed by the total triage model, which will be using cutting edge technology to prioritse the most urgent of appointment requests.
It was clear how much the whole team at GPS care about delivering excellent services to their patients. They have made significant progress in terms of improving patient access, but appreciate this is an ongoing piece. I look forward to supporting them in their efforts to improve the service they provide to patients.
