Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP met with the committee of Colebridge Table Tennis Club in Shirley.
The Table Tennis Club has approximately 150 members and membership is open to the whole community. Neil had the pleasure of being given a tour of the Club, which has recently benefited from a new roof, match-funded by Sport England.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
Colebridge Table Tennis Club is a real gem. Providing accessible sporting opportunities for the whole community. I joined an over fifties session, and it was fantastic to see such a vibrant and competitive atmosphere.
Places like Colebridge Table Tennis Club also do tremendous outreach work. For example, the session for the over fifties not only helps with health and exercise, but also tackles loneliness and social isolation. It really highlights the power of sport.
I’d like to thank the members for allowing me to come down to the Club and join in. I am also very grateful to the committee for taking the time to show me around the facility.”

It was a pleasure to welcome Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP during his visit to Colebridge Table Tennis Club. He chatted to our members playing in the regular Golden Oldie’s afternoon session, as well as several of our Club Management Committee. It was encouraging that Neil was interested in the opportunities that we provide to the members of our community. Thank you for taking the time to come and visit our club.
