Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West and Shirley, recently visited Asda Shirley to learn more about their Community Champion Programme.
From charity collections to showcasing local services, the Programme provides space within stores for local organisations to highlight the incredible work they do.
In addition, Asda Community Champions have spearheaded some remarkable fundraising events to support the local community.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
The work of Community Champions, such as Sally from the Shirley Asda store, supports incredible fundraising for many community groups and charities in Solihull West and Shirley. I was hugely impressed to hear of Sally’s work, delivering practical support and channeling funding and assistance where it is needed the most. I would like to thank Sally, Stephen, and all of Shirley Asda’s customers who support our local charities.
Stephen Thomas, Store Manager of Asda Shirley said:
It was a pleasure to welcome Dr Shastri-Hurst MP to our store. As our local Member of Parliament, we wanted to talk to him about all we are doing to support our customers, colleagues, and communities in the area. October was a key month for our charitable activity, as we supported Tickled Pink, and I am pleased that we have now donated more than £7,500 into the local community through the Asda Foundation, with more that £4,500 donated separately through Cashpot for Schools.
