Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West & Shirley, has launched his ‘Best Local Pub’ campaign, championing and celebrating the contribution that local pubs make to our community.
Currently 70 pubs in Solihull benefit from Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure relief. The average pub in Solihull benefitted from 75% relief, reducing the bill to £8,999. This is being cut by the Government to just 40%, resulting in bills soaring way above the national average in Solihull to £21,954.
In addition, National Insurance Contributions (NICs) increases result in an average annual tax increase in excess of £800 per employee. The average employer who loses out will see their liabilities increase by around £26,000.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
The Government’s poorly thought through policies of increasing business rates and NICs, along with the introduction of the Employees Rights Bill, are going to hit our local hospitality sector.
Outside of London, pubs in Solihull will incur one of the highest bill rises following Labour’s tax raid, an increase on average of £12,955.
Together let us support out local pubs in Solihull West & Shirley. Please nominate your ‘Best Local Pub’ so we can support our vital hospitality sector.
Nominations must be submitted by 12noon on Friday 28th February via https://www.drneilshastri-hurst.co.uk/best-local-pub
